NBA 2012-2013 Schedule in Excel - Top Teams Highlighted Version
Here the Quest for the Ring (QFTR) presents the Top Teams Highlighted Version of the 2012-13 NBA Schedule in Excel. All games are shown in this version of the schedule, but games among the projected four best teams of the East Conference and the projected four best teams of the West Conference are highlighted in orange. This is the schedule to use to quickly find the regular season playoff preview type games played among the very best NBA teams. The Top Teams Highlighted Version is shown in this post below; you do not click any of the links in the next few paragraphs to see it. The links in the next few paragraphs are to other schedule versions.
Previously published was the NBA Schedule on Excel Plain Version. This version has no teams
and no games highlighted. Each year,
The Plain Version is posted before any of the other versions are. So it
was already posted a few weeks ago and it is located here.
Also previously published were twelve team schedules (four more than last year
because, for one thing, production of custom team versions has become
more efficient). The team versions were published in pairs.
--Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets
--Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors
--Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma Thunder
--Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs
--Miami Heat and New York Knicks
--Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76'ers
So
there are six postings at QFTR showing custom team schedules, two in
each posting. If your favorite team is not among the twelve
that have custom schedules, you can use the Plain Version. Or you could use the Top Teams Highlighted Version below.
The twelve teams for which custom versions were produced were chosen as follows:
--Four
(Lakers, Thunder, Clippers and Spurs) were chosen because it is
expected that these will be the four best teams in the West Conference.
--Four
(Heat, Knicks, Celtics and 76'ers) were chosen because it is expected
that these will be the four best teams in the East Conference.
--Four
(Timberwolves, Nuggets, Bulls, Raptors) were specifically chosen by
QFTR without regard to whether or not they are expected to be top teams
or not. Each of these teams is being watched especially carefully by
QFTR.
The
Chicago Bulls were supposed to be among the best four teams in the East
Conference. However, superstar point guard Derrick Rose is not
available due to recovery from injury until between about January 1 2013
and May 1 2013. It is extremely improbable that the Bulls can be among
the best four teams in the East without Derrick Rose in the regular season. But in the playoffs, the Bulls will most likely be much better than their regular season record will suggest.
For the record and as
these stand right now, the Dallas Mavericks are currently projected to
be the fifth best team in the West Conference and the Chicago Bulls are
currently projected to be the fifth best team in the East Conference.
Even
though the Mavericks won the Quest for the Ring in 2011, changes have
been made to the Mavericks and to other teams, and so it is not
considered likely at this time that in 2013 the Mavericks will be able
to finish ahead of either the Lakers, the Thunder, the Clippers or the
Spurs.
But the Bulls prognosis is much more uncertain.
Since Derrick Rose could return anytime between January 1 and May 1,
2013, the Bulls could be either higher than fifth best in the East or
lower. Saying they will be fifth best is more or less based on the
assumption that Rose will return on about March 1, 2013. If the Bulls
can make the playoffs but they have a low seed, they will be a far
better team in the playoffs than what you usually see from a low seed as
long as they have Derrick Rose.
USER GUIDE FOR NBA 2012-2013 SCHEDULES IN EXCEL - ALL VERSIONS
The
regular season and the playoffs season span over eight months (not
counting the last two days of October). Those two seasons run from
November 2012 through June 2013. The schedules below show November
through February in the upper section and March through June in the
lower section. More specifically:
November 2012: Upper Section, 1st Column
December 2012: Upper Section, 2nd Column
January 2013: Upper Section, 3rd Column
February 2013: Upper Section, 4th Column
March 2013: Lower Section, 1st Column
April 2013: Lower Section, 2nd Column
May 2013: Lower Section, 3rd Column
June 2013 Lower Section, 4th Column
Actually
the regular season begins on October 30 to be exact. The regular season
games of October 30 and 31 are at the top of the November column.
Last
year the schedule only covered the regular season. This year we
tentatively plan to fill in the playoffs schedule as it becomes known
next April and May and into June and then update the schedules as
necessary. Either that or we might separately publish a playoff schedule
on Excel. Or we might do neither (it's up in the air at the moment.)
Continuing with the guide to the schedules below....
Primary columns are separated by grey divider bars. Within each of the primary columns there are these three secondary columns:
--Sub
Column 1: There are date headers and for every game the two teams
playing using the format Road Team at Home Team are shown.
--Sub
Column 2: Under the header "TIME" the game start time using Eastern
Time is shown for every game. If you have not memorized the US time
zones, see the conversions to the other zones at the top of the primary
columns.
--Sub Column 3: Under the header "TV" the
national television network that is covering the game is shown if there
is one. Only a small percentage of games are covered by a national
television network (but many of the most important games are). Most
games that are not broadcast by a national network are broadcast
regionally or locally. In the TV column, for games that are broadcast
only regionally or locally there is always a blank space. Note that some
or all ESPN games are also available on the Internet on ESPN 3. Some
people have an internet connection provider that includes access to ESPN
at no extra charge.
THANKS FOR VISITING QFTR
Thank
you for visiting QFTR, the Site that explains how playoff games
and Championships are won and lost, AND the Site that gives you
basketball information that you were not supposed to know AND the Site
that gives you resources and tools that you were not supposed to have.
Remember, to
avoid losing out on future production you should definitely bookmark the
page you are on right now: www.nuggets1.blogspot.com QFTR is NOT on
Twitter or Facebook or any other silly and very limited platform because
we have better things to do and because we do not waste time trying to
get cheap and fleeting traffic. QFTR currently appears surprisingly well
in Google search results, but those results change from time to time
for reasons that are generally not known to the general public. So its
possible that QFTR will become hard to find using Google Search in the
future. So therefore, if you are serious about basketball, it is highly
recommended that you bookmark QFTR (www.nuggets1.blogspot.com) and then
use your bookmark to visit from time to time.
Also,
please consider linking to QFTR wherever and whenever you can. If we get
more traffic then we can increase production from what it would
otherwise be (although we are trying our best to maintain a minimal
level of production regardless of traffic). As an example, if QFTR had
more traffic, we could come up with the resources necessary to produce
and publish custom schedules for every one of the thirty NBA teams.
If you link to QFTR in any
way and you want some kind of a link back or some kind of a public
thanks, please write to thequestforthering1 at gmail (with the usual
.com at the end). Allow plenty of time for a response because to be
honest I have a strong dislike for email applications and I do not
monitor email daily or even weekly (just being honest).
PLAYING DUMB: A LESSON ABOUT THE INTERNET
QFTR
gives a lot of lessons about playing smart versus dumb basketball. This
is a lesson about playing smart versus dumb Internet. There
is playing dumb in basketball and there is also playing dumb on the
Internet.
Every year, when we look in traffic details,
we see that a good number of QFTR "hit and run" type visitors looking
for the current year schedule never get to it because they are ignorant
or because they are in too much of a hurry. Technically, there are two
primary ways this happens.
Way number one is where hit
and runners who bookmarked the particular page showing last year's
schedule never get to this year's schedule. They leave without finding
this year's schedule even though all they had to do was consult the list
of recent posts near the top of the QFTR home page and they would have
easily found this year's schedule.
Although it's
alright to bookmark a particular page, you should also bookmark the site
that particular page is on, which will be useful in all future years.I
probably have more bookmarks than anyone alive, and most of my bookmarks
are to sites in general. If something is very, very important to me, I
will bookmark both the particular age and also the home page of the site
that the particular page appears on.
Way number two is
where hit and runners use Google Search and Google Search leads them to
last year's schedule rather than this year's. And then again, they
leave without finding this year's schedule even though all they had to
do was consult the list of recent posts near the top of the QFTR home
page and they would have easily found this year's schedule.
QFTR
is very surprised and happy about how well Google Search is indexing
Quest for the Ring. This note here is just to remind people that if when
you use the Internet all you do is use Google Search and you just do
"hit and run visits" to Sites, where you leave if you don't instantly
get what you want, you will often miss out on exactly what you are
looking for. For example, this will happen if Google Search happens to
lead you to last year's posting rather than the recent one for this
year. If you are playing dumb, you will do a hit and run and miss out on
exactly what you were looking for. All you had to to was look around a
little on the Site that Google led you to but you didn't do that; you
just did the hit and run and lost out. If you spend a two or three
minutes and can't find what you were looking for, then you can move on.
The moral of the story is that you are often going to be wasting your
time if you don't take a little time to look around a little for what
you are really looking for on the Sites that Google leads you to.
More
broadly, what you really should do to get things from the Internet is
bookmark Sites that give you what you want and then use that bookmark
system AND Google Search to find things on the Internet. The bookmark
system is like your personal, customized Google Search system. To use an
analogy, Google Search is a general tool and your bookmark system is a
customized tool you need to get certain jobs done easily and well.
Sometimes you need that specialized tool that most other people don't
have to get a job done.
Bookmarks should be organized into a folder system that make it easy to find bookmarks that you need.
Bookmark QFTR now if you have not done so already.
Don't play dumb in basketball or on the Internet.
